  • Media Planning Associate

    Media Planning Associate

    The media planning associate is responsible for all campaign-related media planning for Brand Capital International and their portfolio companies, in an effort to increase brand awareness, introduce them to new audiences, and increase penetration overall. The individual will be accountable for soliciting, negotiating, reviewing, and recommending media programs, primarily focused on print and digital but should have basic understanding of the entire multimedia landscape. The individual will facilitate contracts, agency partners, timelines, and vendor management while interfacing with the portfolio companies and executives within Brand Capital International. He/she will be responsible for envisioning and bringing to life the media plan. The role will work out of our Redwood Shores office and report to the Director of Brand Strategy. 

    What you’ll be responsible for:

    · Develop media buying strategies for Brand Capital International and their portfolio companies, based on budget, to increase brand awareness.

    · Establish media plans for both Brand Capital International and portfolio companies.

    · Negotiate with vendors to ensure the best costs

    · Contract and manage outside contacts

    · Project manage across various campaigns 

    · Monitor costs and ROI; work with media team to adjust based on how media plan performs

    · Ensure ads and creative are displayed properly 

    · Liaise with the media teams on all channels and serve as an expert for internal and external purposes.

    Who you are:

    · Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising or related field 

    · 3-5 years of experience in media planning and buying and advertising budget management

    · Excellent communication and negotiation skills

    · Able to effectively work with vendors and function as a valued partner to brand strategy and finance team members

    · Passion for media and new advertising formats (esp. non-digital)

    · Able to function independently as an expert within this vertical

    BCI is seeking to hire a Summer Associate/Intern to work with both the Investment team on a full-time basis, with a potential option to continue on a part-time basis after the summer season upon mutual agreement. This role is ideal for someone who has extensive marketing experience, especially with social media; enjoys engaging with a variety of entrepreneurial and investment ecosystems; has international experience; and is looking for a broader role in a growing international organization. Scope of possible work will include:

    • Contributing to the company’s deal flow pipeline by attending events on behalf of BCI to source potential investments, connect with other potential investors, and by leveraging their own existing network;
    • Assisting the investment team with the screening of potential investments;
    • Conducting industry intelligence gathering, including tracking of news, highlights, financing, and M&A to build a more data-driven approach to deal flow;
    • Conducting online research to stay current on ventures across geographies to identify new business resources and opportunities;
    • Qualifying potential client partnership through excellent rapport and a consultative approach;
    • Developing customized, client-focused presentations;
    • Engaging the VP & investment team in a timely manner to ensure consistent, professional manner;

    Job Qualifications

    • An understanding and interest in entrepreneurship, venture capital, and/or finance;
    • Previous internship experience in venture capital, private equity, or investment banking preferred;
    • Previous experience creating customized, creative presentations (PowerPoint, Keynote);
    • Experience working with senior level management;
    • A proven track record of meeting/exceeding academic and/or business objectives;
    • Extremely professional, polished, communication style both verbal and written;
    • A sense of urgency, initiative, and motivation - and thrives in an entrepreneurial environment;
    • An understanding and interest in overall strategic business operations, and how all the pieces come together.

    Location: New York office

    Type: Paid; Full-Time during summer with potential continuation part-time during subsequent seasons upon mutual agreement.
